About

I’m a Web Developer working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js, Ruby on Rails and other technologies. I used to be a newspaper editor and reporter and later a designer for a large company of dailies in Austin, TX.

Being a journalist taught me about where everyone is getting their news and doing pretty much everything else from these days: their phones and laptops. Currently I’m working at Eaze Co. developing a full-stack web app powered by the MERN stack.

WDI Learns

"WDI Learns" welcomes you and gives you 4 units to choose from, the same ones you're likely to learn at the Web Development Immersive course at General Assembly. Give it your best shot and test yourself, get a score back, and try again! Or try another quiz!

I built this app using the MERN (MongoDB, Express, Node.js, React) stack and used JSON web token authentication and Bootstrap for styling.

Urban WDI

Built with Ruby on Rails and styled with Bootstrap, "Urban WDI" is a full-CRUD, full-stack dictionary-type web application with words/definitions provided by users. The app looks to supply straightforward descriptions to JavaScript's and Ruby on Rails' numerous terms. Users are encouraged to responsibly add new words and definitions to build a database the JS/Rails community can benefit from.

Where The Party App?

Built with Node.js, Express, MongoDB and a third-party API, this was a group project aimed at people who are clueless about what to do on a late night on a weekend, which is basically all of us. By accessing the Yelp! Fusion API, this app enables users to search for nightlife options available near them. Bars & Restaurants can then be added by users to an itinerary which can then be shared with friends. So when you next ask yourself, "Where the party app?", boot up this site. Then you will know!

Who's that Pokemon?

Built with JavaScript, React and Bootstrap this web app fetches data from the Pokemon API and shows you the silhouette of a Pokemon (much like in the pre/post-commercial bit of the popular cartoon series) for your guessing pleasure. Guess correctly and the Pokemon will reveal itself to you!
